Dr. Clark Hubbs 1921-2008
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our long time friend and trustee, Dr. Clark Hubbs. Dr. Hubbs possessed a pioneering spirit, a passion for the sea and a clarity of vision for marine research. We were honored to have him serve as a Trustee of the Institute for more than 23 years. His active involvement offered a historic perspective to the legacy of the Institute and the core values of his father, Dr. Carl L. Hubbs. He will be missed by us all. HSWRI President Don Kent receives National Leadership Honor for Stewardship and Sustainability of the Oceans
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Organization (NOAA) Fisheries Service presented a Sustainable Fisheries Leadership Award to Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI) President Donald B. Kent on June 7. Don received the Stewardship and Sustainability Award for his work in minimizing impacts of fishing operations on whales, and for pioneering research on marine finfish aquaculture and stock enhancement. Although it is only the second year the awards have been presented, it is the first time any award in the eight categories has been tied to work in aquaculture.
